The current version of the Galaxy Communicator distribution is 4.0.

The latest version of the Open Source Toolkit is 20030924.

Core distribution

If you're downloading the distribution under Windows using Netscape, be sure that your file extension is correct in your "Save as..." dialogue box. The core distribution should be saved as a .tar.gz file. Note that on Unix, GNU tar is required for unpacking, because the directory depth apparently cause problems with (for instance) Solaris tar.

Windows libraries

The Windows precompiled libraries and executables are distributed as a .zip file which which should be unpacked inside the toplevel distribution directory, not the directory dominating it.

Reporting bugs, etc.

Bugs should be reported to the Communicator Sourceforge bug queue.

Galaxy Communicator 4.0

The current version of Galaxy Communicator is 4.0.

Since the 4.0 release, we've accumulated a couple tiny bugs, and we've assembled a small a patch release. We are not releasing Windows binaries for this patch release. The current patch level is 4.0p2. This patch supersedes (and includes) 4.0p1, and has been updated so that all bug report links now point to the Communicator Sourceforge site.

You may unpack this patch over your core 4.0 distribution.

The current version of the Open Source Toolkit is 20030924. It represents an update of version 20021004, in which all bug report links have been updated to point to the Communicator Sourceforge site. This distribution requires Galaxy Communicator 4.0 or later.
